I’ve been wanting to walk the entirety of Lake Street for over 10 years. Today I finally did. Started and finished at France & Lake at the border of St Louis Park; picture taken at the halfway point over the Mississippi River at the St Paul border. It was so beautiful. I forget how much I love every stretch of Lake Street. And hello to all the fun people I met today – you made my day 🙂

Stella’s
I know it’s been awhile since the Arby’s was torn down, but I was living out of state at the time and I had to take a moment to say good-bye. Not that I actually miss it. Just felt like something I should do.
This man was my superhero of the day. Just hanging out on his ledge, washing his window. No big deal.
So very sad to see this store closing.
No Parking.
Sun bursts on the patio.
We used to rent bikes here as a kid and explore the lakes; made me sad to see this location had closed. (But happy that it joined with Freewheel!!)
This makes me so happy. I love this horse in the window.
Oh such a cool mural.
I highly recommend this White Castle on the 14th of February every year. It’s fun.
Had to skip a block section of Lake Street thanks to construction (thanks for making our city better, construction workers!!); thought I’d have to come back another day but it was open on my return walk. (Exciting, no?!)
So do I! So do I!!
This made me think of Platform 9 3/4.
I love the history and present and future of this building <3
Mmm Tacos.

Yarn bomb shell of a pay phone!!
Lake Street can be loud. In the best possible way. But sometimes I wonder how those resting in Pioneers & Soldiers Cemetery feel about the noise.

When I saw these deer grazing so peacefully, however, in a moment when all the traffic somehow disappeared, I felt they were quite at peace.

This little girl warmed my heart. She kept pressing the walk button while dancing a silly little kid dance, waiting to cross the street. The dad and brother spoke with her gently, telling her to be patient, and when the light turned the dad took both their hands and they skipped across the street.
New friends!
Mmmm Sonora Grill.
I love these rainbow bike racks. (are they bike racks?! Either way. They’re beautiful.)

In 2005 (before the internet was a big deal), I was living in New Mexico and ordered a poster online of Rosie the Riveter (in Spanish). I had no idea where this ‘Northern Sun’ business I was ordering it from was, but I Loved It. At some point, after I’d moved back to Minneapolis, I put it together. It made me smile.

Tattoos on Lake Street. I love this tattoo shop. When I was very young and irresponsibly impulsive, I entered The Ink Lab asking for a tattoo. Any tattoo. The tattoo artist kindly and patiently looked through designs with me, and then gave me invaluable advice: “I really don’t want to give you this tattoo today. I want you to print it out, tape it next to your bed, and look at it every morning when you wake up. A year from now, if you still want it, I’ll tattoo you.” Thankfully I listened. I left with a nice new piercing but NO Tweety Bird tattoo. I’m forever grateful for that wise human 💛
Oh how I want to play in this pit!!!
